Why Blackbox?
You describe a problem. A solution comes out. That's the idea. And it comes from someone who's been on the other side of that problem for most of his career.
Jason Armstrong
Owner/Operator - Since 2004, Operating Two The UPS Store Franchises
From Tech to the Floor
Jason Armstrong didn't start in business. He started in technology — drawn to how systems work, how things connect, how a well-designed process can make hard things feel easy. Then the entrepreneurial bug bit, and for the better part of two decades, he ran something a lot more concrete than code: two The UPS Store franchise locations in Southeast Texas.
Twenty-one years. Thousands of customers. Staff to hire, schedules to manage, inventory to count, complaints to handle, margins to protect. The kind of business where every hour counts and every inefficiency costs you something real — time, money, or sanity.
Building Tools to Survive
When you run a business like that, you either learn to live with the chaos or you start building ways out of it. Jason did the latter. He started using technology not to impress anyone — but because he was tired of the pain points that nobody else was fixing.
Inventory, for one. At two locations with thousands of SKUs, doing inventory took 30 minutes per store, when it should really only take 5. That is what a focus on efficiency delivers - real, tangible results. Time saved. Money saved. So Jason built something. A custom inventory management system, designed specifically around the way his stores actually operated — not the way some software company assumed they did.
"This cut inventory from a painful chore to five minutes."
That's not a marketing line. That's a real person, running a real store, describing a real change in how her week felt. That reaction — that specific kind of relief — is what Blackbox is built around.
Why "Blackbox"?
In engineering, a blackbox is a system you don't have to understand to use. You put something in. Something useful comes out. The complexity is handled for you.
That's exactly what most small business owners need from technology. They don't want to become software experts. They want their inventory counted. They want their schedule to stop being a nightmare. They want their customer information in one place instead of three spreadsheets and a stack of Post-its.
You put the problem in. A solution comes out. That's Blackbox.
Who This Is For
Blackbox is for small and mid-sized businesses in Southeast Texas — the kind of business where the owner knows every employee by name, where the margins are real, and where time lost is money lost.
If you've ever thought "there has to be a better way to do this" — and then figured you couldn't afford a custom solution — that's exactly the assumption we're here to challenge. We're not an agency with a $50,000 minimum. We're not a freelancer who disappears after launch. We're a partner who knows what it's like to run your kind of business.
Because we have. Since 2004.
